Obstratic & Gynae Department

The department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at North DMC Medical College, Delhi is one of the major departments of Hindu Rao Hospital with129 beds.

TThe department functions under four units. Apart from routine work of depoartment it also runs Cancer detection clinic, Geriatrics Clinic, Infertility Clinic & Samman Clinic for senior citizens.The Labor ward has annual admissions of around 9000 LSCS/vaginal deliveries, about 8500/annum minor and major operations. Average OPD attendance (old & new patients) is around 60,000/annum. Annually about 2700 major and 950 minor gynaecological surgeries are done. Department along with the Family Welfare unit is promoting small family norm. Besides this, Internship Training Programme of 45 days is carried out in the department. PG DNB training programme in also carried out in the department. Regular theory and clinical teaching has been started for the UG MBBS of Medical College.

Dr A K Sood did his graduation from AFMC Pune and MD from INHS Asvini Bombay. He has done WHO fellowship in Gynae Endoscopy at AIIMS Delhi.

He has 28 yr experience as a specialist at various Armed Forces hospitals including Base Hospital Delhi, Command Hospital Chandimandir, Udhampur& Kolkata. He has 16 yr of teaching experience. His areas of interest are Gynae Endoscopy & Fetal Surveillance. He has presented his research work at various national fora and has many research publications to his credit. He has been consultant, appraiser, coordinator, and examiner for NBE and resource faculty for MCI. He is life fellow of ICMCH and life member of FOGSI, NARCHI & ICOG.
